Popular Discourse, Self-absorption

I hear talk of a return to stoicism among a few: Svend Brinkmann’s Stand Firm or Oliver Burkeman’s The Antidote: Happiness for People Who Can’t Stand Positive Thinking. There are many others. And I too believe there could be something healthy in this return.

My hope would be that popular discourse becomes more “self-absorbed”—less concerned over the world or humanity wholly. All too often the other is used in arguments—but I don’t want to hear about this character. Tell me about your experience!
